The holidays are all about friends and family coming together, slouching on the sofa with a hot cocoa, and indulging in gift giving and dinners with all of the trimmings. It can be one of the most wonderful times of the year but it can also be one of the most stressful, particularly if you’re the host.
Stuck in the kitchen, keeping family entertained or having to accommodate last minute guests can make Christmas day one of the most stressful days of the year. But it doesn’t have to be. With a few simple changes to your usual routine you’ll hopefully feel a bit more relaxed and ready to join in on the festive fun.
‘Tis the season
You’ll never enjoy the holidays if you stay in Grinch mode. Get the diary out and fill it with potlucks with friends or your colleague’s drinks party. Joy is contagious and surrounding yourself with those who are already in the festive spirit is sure to crack a smile on your face too.
Deck the halls
Not only is it a fast-track to the festive spirit, but setting up your Christmas home decor early on will save you time during the run up to the day. Fill your living room with tree fir, dig out the string lights, wrap tinsel around the staircase. With Thanksgiving over and done with, it’s officially time to choose your Christmas tree and bring the baubles back.
Take a break
While your monthly calendar will be filled with parties, dinners and scheduled shopping days, it’s important to remember to take time out for yourself and just relax. Drop a bath bomb in and relax in the tub, sweat it all out at the gym, or treat yourself to an extra long lie in on the weekend. Giving yourself this time to re-energize means you’ll be less likely to cancel on your social activities later on.
They say the early bird catches the worm, and your preparation for the holidays is no exception! Do you know what you’re going to cook? Where to buy your kids’ gifts? When you’ll find the time to discreetly wrap and hide presents this year? Consider all the possible Christmas-related tasks you’ll need to do; creating your playlist, setting up the outdoor decorations, etc. and schedule in time early to do them. You’ll be ready for the 25th before you know it!
Splash out on a one-off cleaner
Time is money, and you can save yourself so much time and stress by investing in a one-off cleaner to do the hard work! You can sit back, relax, and wait until your house is restored back to normality once again.
